Isaiah 43:9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. TEACHING [Past posts below] Today I spoke on the verses from the Mass and Church Unlimited- the theme was the deity of Christ and the New Covenant [as well as church history and a few other subjects]. The reading from the Mass [John 1] showed us the deity of Christ [meaning Christ being God in the flesh] and the calling of John the Baptist- John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. John was the last and greatest Prophet- in the line of Old Testament prophets [I know the debate- but won’t do it now]. In John 1 we see him introducing Jesus- bringing in the Messiah, as the forerunner John was simply a messenger- John 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. And we see the reality of the New Birth- not a natural birth- but a spiritual one- Born of God- John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. I also refuted the teaching [from the higher critics] that the doctrine of Jesus being God was a later development in the history of the church. The writings from the New testament state the early belief among Christians that Jesus was indeed God in the flesh- Here is another verse that shows us this- 1Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
